Anna Fiorentini, founder of the Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School and new member of the CCCA, talks about the work of her charity and the role companies can play, through their CSR initiatives, in supporting its cause.

The Theatre and & Film School is a not for profit organisation with a charitable arm supporting disadvantaged talented children into the performing arts as a way of increasing their confidence, self-esteem and life skills. Set up 17 years ago, the school now has six branches throughout London including Hackney, Camden, Docklands and Greenwich. The school has given amazing opportunities to hundreds of young people over the years, including lead roles on TV, Film and the West End stage.

‘12.5 million working days are lost each year in the UK due to stress, anxiety and depression’, said Anna. ‘I know, based on my own experience, the power performing arts can have on people’s lives and self-confidence. Is for that reason that I set up Stage & the City; professional after work performing arts classes for adults that wish to have fun as well as learn new skills for career or personal development.’ Adults can do a variety of courses including acting for beginners, musical theatre, singing, dance, screen acting and public speaking. All new courses start in April, early bird booking discounts up to 26th March. Most courses take place in Kings Cross and a couple in Canada Water. More details at

All profits from this new venture go to the Fiorentini Foundation providing bursaries for less privileged children that wish to attend the Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School. Since its launch, the foundation has supported over 40 children including Jayden Osheneye who we gave a free place and then we got him the role of Fletcher in the West End’s The Bodyguard playing alongside Beverley Knight.

Annual Charity Extravaganza

Stage & the City will be putting on its annual Charity Extravaganza on Saturday 24th March, where all adult students will perform in a variety show. Money raised will support kids with or affected by cancer that wish to attend the Fiorentini School. This is an opportunity for you to experience the quality of the work we do. Book your tickets now.

Team building events for businesses

Anna is very enthusiastic about working with local businesses, she said: ‘In response to businesses requests, we now offer bespoke team building events. We recently worked with a team of 20 Natwest bank managers. We turned them into zombies for the day and taught them the dance routine from Thriller. We hired a theatre, which we turned into a graveyard, hired in makeup artists and cinematographers and helped them create their very own Thriller music video. They did this as a sponsored event and part of their CSR policy and raised over £3500 for the Fiorentini Foundation.’
