Coronavirus is making life much, much worse for the most vulnerable in Camden. This crisis is having a huge impact on people who are homeless, living on a low income, unsafe at home, older and isolated people.
What has Camden Giving done so far?
C4WS Homeless Project exists to support those without a home to rebuild their lives, their winter night shelter operates each night from the beginning of November to the end of March each year. Camden Giving have awarded C4WS funding to support emergency costs for their guests during the coronavirus emergency.
A C4WS guest, who had previously been homeless, worked in a kitchen and has lost his job so came to C4WS “freaking out because he thought he’d lose his home”. With money from Camden Giving we’ve been able to pay his rent, he’s applied for Universal Credit and whilst this comes through he has somewhere safe to sleep.
But we need to do more
Charities, community groups and social enterprises in Camden have always been here to support those who need it most. Right now they are facing a huge surge in demand and a reduced income. This fund is here to support them to do what they do best and to ensure they are here in the future.
Depending on how much is raised, the fund will support work that addresses poverty, physical and mental health and social cohesion. 100% of money raised will go to charities, community groups and social enterprises helping people in Camden.
