Power Up North London is looking for volunteer directors

News – Wednesday, April 14th, 2021

Power Up North London is a community driven movement working to deliver locally owned and managed solutions to the climate emergency.

PUNL are looking for new volunteer Directors to join their board. They are particularly interested to hear from people who live and work in North London, and can bring expertise in finance, including green finance, engineering, project management and organisational development – with time commitment being flexible.

PUNL is a local organisation working at the grassroots level in Camden, Islington and Haringey to deliver renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.  It designs and delivers solar installations owned and managed by the local community for the community. Surplus income is channelled into a fund which is allocated by members to local environmental projects.

Building on a collaboration to install solar on school roofs, PUNL has recently developed an exciting partnership with Camden Council which is looking at new sites for solar panels and exploring options for renewable heat.

PUNL has managed four community share offers raising nearly £141,000 to date from 188 investors and have now installed 313KwP of solar energy across 9 sites in North London, saving over 70 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. This is equivalent to 26 acres of new forest.

PUNL welcome applications before mid-May.
