School Climate Charter

The Camden School Climate Charter is a local framework to empower schools to play their part in making Camden a zero-carbon borough by 2030. Signatories will declare a Climate and Ecological Emergency and commit to actions to contribute to addressing it in line with the Camden Climate Action Plan 2020-2025.

Charter commitments fall into two areas: as educators, schools will commit to teaching young people to be environmentally literate and as organisations, schools will commit to ensuring any decisions around managing premises, purchasing goods and managing resources take into account their impact on the environment.

The Charter was developed based on the work we have been doing with schools since 2018 as well as feedback from teachers and school heads via the peer support network. The aim is to launch in early 2021 at a school conference.

The document it is currently a draft so feedback is welcomed. If you have any comments on the content of the charter, please contact carlos.queremel@Camden.gov.uk
