Waste Prevention Community Fund Now Open

News – Friday, April 9th, 2021

The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) have re-launched their Waste Prevention Community Fund for the 2021/2022 funding cycle. Non-for-profit organisations based in North London are encouraged to apply with initiatives that either directly tackle waste prevention or impact the production of waste more generally.

Successful applicants of the Waste Prevention Community Fund can demonstrate community leadership in waste prevention and will help to alleviate the 850,000 tonnes of preventable waste collected in North London every year. Previous projects range from community upcycling workshops, educational sessions in schools, food redistribution outlets and open air textile markets.

The fund aims to provide successful projects with 100% of the project cost – up to £15,000. The NLWA are particularly keen to hear from applicants who target electrical repair and reuse, however projects targeting alternative waste streams such as food waste, furniture or textiles are also eligible for the funding.

Waste prevention is a key aspect of the Camden Climate Pledge and by joining the pledge we can support you in reducing your business waste according to the principles of reduce, re-use and recycle, thus reducing your carbon footprint.

Organisations that been successful in previous NLWA funding rounds and/or have received financial support from the NLWA for alternative projects may also apply for funding.

The deadline for all applications is 7 May 2021 12:00pm, in which all projects must be complete by 31 March 2022. For more information, including how to apply, please click here.
